Astronomy

Fascinated by the beautiful symmetry and diverse colours and shapes of stars, galaxies, and other aspects of the wondrous Universe

Was fortunate to see Comet Hale-Bopp with a backdrop of the extraordinary Aurora Borealis curtains of shimmering light while staying at the Ice Hotel in the Arctic Circle.  It was -27 Celsius outside (and even -7 inside sleeping on a block of ice with reindeer skins), but it was worth it !

Just a few weeks later, down in the warmth of the Indian Ocean, managed to see a real Green Flash at the last moment before sunset

Always pleased to catch the four big moons of Jupiter moving around, even with binoculars, but hope to focus more on galactic structures and colourful nebulae with CCD photography
